My new Saturday morning hangout: Coffee Emporium

Coffee Emporium

I've lived two blocks from Coffee Emporium since July, and I finally wandered there last weekend. What a great space! I saw lots of fellow downtowners/OTR-ers I recognized, and Jim Tarbell was holding court in the foyer. I had a delicious White Raspberry Mocha, and Terry got a cup of one of their coffees du jour. Too bad I don't work downtown-- I'd come down here every day before work. Maybe it's a good thing that I don't work closer...

I have to confess, I live downtown and have never been there. I am going to Myra's in Clifton for the first time today, and I think I heard Coffee Emporium carries their soups there?

They do! They carry three or four a day.

This place is an ETC fave. The chicken salad is to die for!

Oh, man, I'm a sucker for killer chicken salad.

Did you see the couch in the corner? I had wondered where my old green one went...

Cin Twin1, they do indeed. A secret source *ahem* also can attest that the soups are exchanged for coffee. Try the Vegetarian Chili at Myra's if you haven't already.

I love Coffee Emporium. It's a great place for informal meetings, and you always run into someone you know there.

I don't know if they still do this, but the original CE in Hyde Park used to have Waffle Madness on Sunday mornings. There was nothing particularly special about the waffles, but we liked to go so we could say "we're going/we went to Waffle Madness". It's just fun to say.

Wow, hi, Erin! :) They do still have waffles on Saturday morning (closed Sunday) but it definitely doesn't have a cool name like "waffle madness". I stopped in there on Saturday and they did smell darn good, though.
