Best Damn Dish: Chicken Bryan

I'm sorry. I really am, but non-Cincinnati based restaurants shouldn't be able to win "Best Damn Dish" at The Taste of Cincinnati. I know, I know, they say it's "Best of Taste"-- but I'd prefer La Rosa's or Skyline to win over Carrabba's. I know that logistically, it would be hard for a restaurant to do taste if it is fairly small (though Bella Luna and La Petite France seem to do well), but I'm thinking Jeff Ruby's could do a booth (potatoes Anna, anyone?), and Jean-Robert Group does The Flower Show every year. I don't mind if national chains are present, but they shouldn't be able to win awards.

No, I felt the same way. Carrabba's was on their list a little too often for my taste (no pun intended).

We also wondered about that.
We were surprised that only a few of our region's top end local chef owned restaurants particpated. Also we noted that this has become a catering event. No cooking done on site. Alot(most)of the cooked food suffered as a result.
Is this event going by way of the Cincinnati Wine Festival? Maybe it was just this year?
(ps)People also noticed that this year, there were no drink tickets
included in the price. ):

They started shutting down around 7:00, even though it was supposed to go until 8:00.? We all commented on that when we left, and let them know we were not happy about it.? Many people who can't get off work early aren't able to get there until 6:00, so they had to squeeze their 'tastings' into one hour.

It was too hard to hear the awards - I still don't know who won what in all the categories.? I would prefer that they delay the awards until later - otherwise everyone tries to get the award winners and lots of other stuff might go untried.?

I still enjoy the event, but I think they need to run it better - stick to the hours advertised, include drink tickets, post attractive signs at each table to make it easy to see what is being offered, and for God's sake have more trash cans.
