Non-Review: It's Just Crepes

I would really, really love to review It's Just Crepes. They just opened up on Court Street, and feature... crepes! Sounds like a great idea-- both sweet and savory. However, word on the street is that the owners don't believe that people actually come downtown on the weekends, much less live there, so their hours are only 8-4, Monday through Friday. I totally get that they are starting out and have to have limited hours, but look at how well Taste From Belgium is doing-- and Jean-Francois' business (though it's expanded) started on the weekends, exclusively, at Findlay.

I said this on Just Past Central: Court Street is sort of an odd location. I totally wish them all the best, but darn it, I'd like to be able to try them!

Has anyone trekked down to Court Street? What do you think?

ETA: Due to popular demand, It's Just Crepes has changed their hours to 7:30 AM-3:30 PM M-F and 9-1:30 on Saturdays, starting 9/20. Go check them out on 9/20 (I know I will!).

Thank you all, we are feeling the love. We are planning on offering weekend hours in the very near future, most likely on Saturdays. Since we can tell that some of you are ready to try the crepes, we would like to know what your opinion of our Saturday hours should be? Breakfast? Lunch? Both?

Thanks,

I used to live on Court Street, and it really has so much potential. I would love to see the crepes place open on the weekends. I might have to alter my running and bike riding just to check it out! Hey Kevin and Karrah, thanks so much for listening to the downtown residents! I promise there are lots of us here. To advertise weekend hours a good organization to contact is the Downtown Residents Council. Best of luck!

Lets be real, Findlay market is already hopping with peeps on the weekends, Court St is not. i live downtown and completely "get" their choice of hours. I spoke to the owners, who are very nice, and they had mentioned they felt they got a "good deal" on their location that's why they went with Court St. The owners are young and may not have a huge budget for a "better" location. I had the Cordon BLue crepe...it was Amazing! It was bigger than the Findlay guy's crepes and tasted much better. Best wishes to Its just crepes.

Well I must say that first of all...the greatness of this place starts from the top. The owners are working hard in there getting their spatulas dirty with the rest of the workers from open to close everyday. The staff is so nice and willing to accomodate special orders with a smile and "no problem at all!" I love watching them make the crepes (esp since I can't cook with a darn) and the euro-modern bright atmosphere is a fresh breath of air among the dark cement of downtown. I happen to love the location and think it is a great place to start because it is an eclectic mix of shops and there is parking RIGHT infront of the eatery...a dollar gave ne 2 hrs time..WAY BETTER than the $4+ to park other places for an hr. I also recommend sitting at the cute little bar in the front window so you can people-watch ;). I give it an A+ for style, innovation, and intimate yet inviting atmosphere, excellent service and exception quality/value...especially since I could only eat half my omlette crepe bc it was so much food! Alright I'm done raving...but you see how much I love this place! :)

Drew-- yup! I really wish I could, but I can't.

Dave-- Their menu does look really good.

Karrah-- Thanks for writing! If I were you (and I'm not), I'd probably start out with breakfast hours and if those work, expand from there. Let me know if/when the hours expand and I'll happily post about it.

Cin Twin-- It does! I think if a couple of businesses opened on the weekends, they could drive demand and maybe get that street a bit more active on the weekends. Just needs a business or two that's willing to do it.

Anon-- Findlay, a year ago, wasn't THAT hopping, and I can tell that Kevin and Karrah are nice, but as a downtown resident, I have to disagree with you: if everyone says "Oh, no one comes downtown, we won't have weekend/evening hours", no one ever WILL come downtown.

Stacie-- they might hire you to do PR. :) Perhaps if It's Just Crepes opened on weekends, it would drive some businesses to other shops on the street and that area would revitalize a bit.

Julie, thanks for the compliment. Karrah and Keven...what's your asking price? Haha. Really though I just like to give credit where credit is due (esp since I think the first review I read after going there was a little [yikes!] harsh)and promote those trying to bring me something exciting in cincy...esp yummy food. Oh...ps...I forgot to say that you have to try the S'mores crepe..melty Nutella and marshmallow w graham cracker...oh joy.

Although I agree with you all..I don't know if my diet could handle weekend hrs lol. ;)

Stacie-- if it were European Nutella (which tastes and has a completely different texture than American--I'm going to bring a jar or three back this Christmas and hoard it) I would be first in line. Probably every day. And then I'd gain 300 pounds. ;)

Not sure it if it European or not...but the owner is Greek so quite possibly!

Stacie - The PR position is yours if we ever need it!!! :)

Beginning Monday September 15th we will be open Monday - Friday 7:30am - 3:30pm and Saturday 9am - 1pm. Please help us spread the word so that we can continue to stay open on Saturdays! Thanks!

I had one today. It was alright. I think I would have enjoyed it more without as much chicken on the cordon bleu. I found out later that too much chicken was added, but it was still good. I am looking forward to trying the sweet crepes.
